Hello Everyone! For those that do not already know me, I am Whitney Stevens, owner of Bliss Studio here in Portland, Oregon! I have been a photographer for over 20 years and while I have photographed many different things over the years I have narrowed my focus to what I love most and that is children.  I have always said I see kids a little differently and now that I am a mom I truly believe that I have a special connection with kids. I love to let them be who they are in front of my lens while I am there to just capture their beauty.

For my coaching month I have put together an amazing course for you guys about seeing the beauty both in kids and in the photos you take at the beach! Since it is summer I imagine many of you have had (or will have) a trip to the beach and want to really capture some great images. I know that there can be some challenges when trying to get those perfect moments and I have some fun tips that will get you well on your way.  I will also share with you guys my editing tips on several beach photos including replacing skies and enhancing that golden light!

This month is going to be about “Exploring the Elements of the Beach” (Wind, Water, Earth, Sun). We will take a look at each of the elements and how they affect our gear, subject and photos. I will work on a photo for each of the elements in ON1 sharing with you exactly how I edit my photos. If you’re landlocked, don’t worry, the principles I am going to cover apply to many other locations as well.

• Wind – Tips for working with high winds and a creative edit of one of my favorite photos in high wind

• Water – Capturing Reflections and replacing a sky

• Earth – Using the details to enhance your photos and complete a story

• Sun – As a light source and how to enhance the evening light in ON1

• Bonus – How to use window light to create a soft BW portrait
