Head Swaps are a quick way to save photos that may not have all the expressions that you were looking for when you took the photo. Luckily you can perform head swaps very easily inside ON1 Photo RAW by using two layers. Quickly align the images using the Difference blend mode and you’re on your way to swapping expressions and faces!

Great video! I was wondering if instead of using the difference blend mode you could instead change the opacity of the top layer to see both layers and line them up that way?

For sure! that would work as well, there’s a few ways to align the photos I just find the difference one to be the easiest to make it very precise.

That was a very timely tip! It’s really hard to get children all with the same expression so I was able to get one good photo with all four grandchildren smiling AND looking at the camera π
Thanks Dylan!

You have a knack for making the software easy, simple and fun to use. All of us really appreciate your patient and welcoming style.
Most of us would like a tutorial on a simple work around for Onones lack of a save as option. It does not bother me but it is a deal killer for my wife.
I personally would like you to do a tutorial using curves to convert old negatives into positives. I have done it, it works, but I know you could show all of us how to do it better.
Thanks, David Ellis

Thanks David! Are you referring to saving edits or exporting the edited photo? So in Photo RAW all the edits are saved automatically via a sidecar file so you don’t need to save, the edits will all be saved non-destructively so you can go back anytime and readjust or see edits. You can also view your edits in the Info Pane in the right top corner of the interface via >Settings Applied.
Let me know if that helps or if you were referring to something else! π

Thanks for teaching an “Old Dog New Tricks”. I now only use ON1 software for post-processing but have yet to venture into making Masks & Layers. This Tutorial is so simple it has me excited to try it.

Thanks for the great clear tip! I listened before and came back for a refresher as I remembered this being so good. Do you know if renaming layers has been removed in PR2020? Don’t seem to be able to get this to work and do not know if it is just me. Thanks again!
