Hey everyone, welcome to the July episode of our Edit Explorer series! In Edit Explorer, we dive deep into submitted photo edits, offering constructive feedback and valuable tips that can enhance your photo editing workflows and techniques. If you’re a member of ON1 Plus, you can submit your edited photos along with sidecar files for review. Today, we’ve randomly selected three submissions from the community to discuss editing techniques and inject new life into these images.

Photo #1 Travel Building:

Common issue: No real issues, just suggestions. Replacement sky may need to be brightened to ensure it appears natural. Also, temperature may be a bit too warm.

Recommendation: Try brightening the sky inside of the Sky Swap AI options. Also, play around with the temperature to ensure it appears natural and not too warm. I would also recommend trying different sky options and possibly a border to add some interest.

Photo #2 Military Portrait:

Common issue: No real issues, just suggestions. Dynamic contrast is sharpening up the detail in the background when it should be soft and blurred.

Recommendation: Remove dynamic contrast from the background from behind the portrait to ensure it stays soft and smooth. Instead of dynamic contrast, add in a bit of Glow to soften things up. Make sure that you keep an eye on the edges of the mask – they may be harsh, producing a halo around the portrait subject.

Photo #3 Flower:

Common issue: No real issuses, just suggestions. When removing unwanted objects from your image – sometimes it may add in pixels that don’t appear natural.

Recommendation: Try using the new Generative Erase feature to remove distractions. It will fill in the pixels naturally to ensure it doesn’t create anything unnatural in your image.
