Going overboard with editing is incredibly easy. As our skills advance, it’s fun to add contrast, sharpening, and ‘pop’ to our images to make details stand out. However, when I’m looking at images from students, workshop participants, and critique submissions, one of my most frequent comments is to avoid applying sharpening or detail to areas where textures should be soft or out of focus.
