Excellent lesson, Dylan. Great job on demonstrating the power of On1 Raw masking tools. Thanks a bunch.

Excellent, Dylan. One of the most powerful features in Photo RAW is masking. But it can also be confusing as there are so many ways of masking. These videos – showing times when one approach is faster or easier than another are GREAT reminders.
I always forget the line mask tool!
Thanks.

Really helpful. Using gradient masks behind an initial mask was of particular interest. I appreciate that masking is covered in several ON1 videos, using different techniques and tools, and clearly it is a huge subject beyond the scope of any one video. I think it would be helpful to provide a masking masterclass that covers the tools and techniques in detail, possibly using existing video content that already exists, but collating it into a structured package of lessons.
A big ask – however, I feel such a masterclass could provide a great teaching aid and also a reference point that people could dip back into – say for AI masks, luminosity masks, gradients, mask refining, etc.

Greatly enjoyed learning the power of AI and the ease of use. Demonstrates good applications and line masking. Thanks looking forward to seeing more. of this. I will watch this tutorial again just to make sure I have it all.

Thanks, Dylan. The ways you can use this program have certainly changed over the years and it doesn’t look like it is stopping yet.

Thanks Dillon.
Like Richard I appreciated the tip of using a mask behind a subject mask in particular. That aside the lesson was also useful in reminding us of the alternative approaches available in using masks.
May I suggest a future lesson for masking skies against a horizon (usually a landscape) where the bright sky creates a lens abberation along the edge where sky meets ground and when masked produces a halo in the sky at the edge and darkening of the ground side of the edge.
I have tried Scott Davenport’s tip on using a luminosity mask of the halo but wih limited success.

Masking and selecting have never been as easy and effective as it is now with ON1 Photo RAW. Thanks a lot for your tips, Dylan! There is always something new to discover. For me it was the “Mask sky” command which I did not notice before. 🙂

Another fantastic lesson. I have been using On1 for a very long time and have gotten used to doing things the same way. This lesson reminded me once again that I really don’t need to work so hard to achieve the same goals if I would make use of Ai a bit more along with creating specific masks. I keep forgetting I can do that. Thank you for reminding me.

For a photo enthusiast who struggles with masking this really was helpful. All the new variations of masking can be intimidating, confusing, and frustrating. This really helped to show how to use them in concert, or independently. Thanks so much! I think a lesson masterclass adding all these new variations into the “masking universe” would be a terrific addition to keep and refer to often as our “dictionary on masking”! Thank you again!
