I had an older photo drive attached to my computer looking for something, and I came across a photo shoot from a trip I took over 10 years ago. So I figured I’d go through the photos with you, taking a look at what I liked and didn’t like (about what I did 10 years ago), and even edit one of the photos. It was definitely a fun process and got me looking through my older photos again, so hopefully it inspires some of you to do the same. Enjoy!

What fun to look back at images and see how much our taste change, as well as our skills to be able to work on photos we didn’t try and do anything with.

After the first few photo critique I went back and started to reevaluate my older photos. I must say I deleted quite a few. I have quite a few that I should reedit based on what I have learned. As Jack said above our editing skills have also improved over the years.

It is fun looking through old folders to review old photos, good processing or not. With today’s tools, sometimes we can rework them into something better. My only regret is that my old stuff is all in JPEG and not raw.

Matt,
What a great reminder to spend some time with old photos! Plan to spend a day once the weather gets a bit colder and re-edit some 10 year old photos on my older computer.
Thanks, again.
Cheers,
Mary Ellyn

Really interesting! Especially the ISO noise comparison of the D2X to modern cameras.

My old photos only date back to 2013 but it’s fun to go through them now that I fully understand lightroom. I can now fix/replace skies, thanks to On1 photo. So many photos that I thought were unusable have now become gems. Great video Matt!

Funny you bring old photos up…when I find myself without new photos (bad weather or whatever) I often go back to my old favorite photos and see what happens if I re-edit them with ON1 and Lightroom. Our skills and our taste definitely change over time. I generally like the new edits better, but I rarely delete the old one….sentimental value I guess! Speaking of noise in old shots..I started with a Kodak 4800 in 1999 …3MP and a lot of noise. things keep getting better and better….I love it!
