Austin Jackson is a landscape and outdoor photographer based in Southern Utah. He loves capturing great light in some of the world’s most stunning locations. In addition to capturing his own images, Austin enjoys the content creation side of things, creating countless videos and helping landscape photographers improve their craft. Why do you love ON1 Photo RAW?

I love the simplicity of ON1 Photo RAW. It’s so easy for someone new to photo editing to succeed, even without knowing all the technical aspects. Its tools cater to professionals, but it also has plenty of automated features that work great for photographers with little experience.

What is your favorite feature?

My favorite feature is the Effects tab. With over 30 effects, I love how you can easily adjust your photos in just a few clicks.

Best tip for new photographers in ON1?

Start off with the basic sliders that are easy to understand, and once you’re comfortable there, move on to learning some of the more advanced tools. Don’t feel like you need to overdo it**—oftentimes,** the best photos are the ones that require minimal editing.

What’s always in your camera bag?

I never leave home without my telephoto. Most people think landscape photography requires wide-angle lenses, but I find so many images with my telephoto lens when the light is subpar for wide-angle shots. I always bring my 70-300mm long, and sometimes even my 150-600mm.

What inspires your photography style?

I aim to keep my photography realistic-looking, so it is definitely inspired by the natural world. I’m fortunate enough to visit some of the most scenic landscapes in the West, so they certainly inspire my style.
